Pressure treated arris rails for fencing applications

UC3 treated arris rails are ideally used for feather edge / close board pieces to be nailed into situ. This rails are thicker than standard fence backing rails.

A vital component of the traditional arris rail / feather edge fencing. Fences upto 1.2m high usually only require 2 horizontal arris rails. Over 1.2m to 1.8m would require 3 arris rails.

Arris rails can fit into mortice type posts or be mounted to square timber post using brackets. (sold separately)

Available in 3m lengths that can be cut to size allowing you to cover greater areas without posts. Please note the more posts you have the stronger the fence will be.

Description

75mm x 75mm Timber Arris Rails for Strong Closeboard Fencing

These 75mm x 75mm Timber Arris Rails are pressure treated to UC3 standards, making them a reliable and long-lasting structural component for closeboard and feather edge fencing systems. Designed for strength, stability and outdoor durability, they provide the essential support framework that ensures fencing remains rigid and secure in all weather conditions.

UC3 Pressure Treated for Long-Lasting Performance

Each arris rail undergoes a UC3 pressure treatment process, protecting the timber against rot, decay and insect attack. This deep, long-lasting treatment makes them suitable for external fencing installations where resilience is essential. Their triangular profile provides a strong and clean fit behind feather edge boards, helping to create a professional and stable finish.

Ideal for Feather Edge and Closeboard Fencing

Arris rails form the backbone of traditional feather edge and closeboard fencing. At 75mm x 75mm, these rails are thicker than standard backing rails and provide increased strength, making them ideal for projects where durability is a priority. Fencing up to 1.2m high typically requires two horizontal arris rails, while installations between 1.2m and 1.8m generally require three for proper support.

Their robust profile ensures feather edge boards can be securely fixed without movement, helping to prevent bowing, sagging or structural weakness over time.

Flexible Installation Options

These timber arris rails can be fitted into mortice posts for traditional installations or mounted onto square timber posts using arris rail brackets (sold separately). This flexibility makes them suitable for both new fencing projects and repairs to existing systems.

Each rail is supplied in a 3m length, allowing installers to cut to the exact size required. Longer lengths reduce the number of posts needed and help maintain a visually cleaner run of fencing. However, for maximum strength and wind resistance, additional posts may be added to support heavy-duty installations.

Perfect for Trade and DIY Fencing Projects

Whether you’re a fencing contractor, landscaper or a homeowner tackling your own garden upgrade, these 75mm x 75mm arris rails offer exceptional versatility and strength. Their pressure-treated finish ensures low maintenance, long-term performance, and dependable results for all fencing types.

  • UC3 pressure treated for outdoor durability
