Green Closeboard Fence Panels: London’s Choice for Privacy & Security

Achieve ultimate privacy and security with our heavy-duty green closeboard fence panels. Also known as feather edge panels, they are constructed with overlapping vertical boards to create a solid, gap-free barrier. Each panel is pressure-treated for long-lasting protection against rot and insect damage, making it a durable and low-maintenance choice for homeowners in East London, North London and Essex.

Why Choose Our Closeboard Panels?

Our closeboard panels are engineered for superior strength and a timeless aesthetic. They offer a significant upgrade over standard fencing options.

  • Maximum Privacy & Security: The overlapping board design ensures no visible gaps, shielding your garden from view and creating a secure enclosure.
  • Exceptional Durability: Pressure-treated with a green Tanalith E preservative, these panels are built to withstand harsh weather and resist decay for decades.
  • Versatile Installation: Compatible with both concrete and timber posts, and can be finished with gravel boards and decorative trellis toppers to suit your style.
  • Cost-Effective Investment: While the initial cost is higher than basic panels, their long lifespan and minimal maintenance needs provide excellent long-term value.

“The entire service was seamless from start to finish. I submitted a request for a quote online and received a prompt response the next day. They quickly arranged a site visit after asking for some photos. We replaced our old, low garden fence with taller panels, complete with new concrete posts and gravel boards, and I’m really happy with the results. The team was highly professional throughout and regularly checked in to make sure we were happy with the positioning. I’ll definitely be coming back to First Choice Fencing when we’re ready to do the other side of the garden.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Are closeboard and featherboard panels the same?
Yes, the terms “closeboard” and “featherboard” refer to the same type of fencing made with overlapping vertical boards. The name used often varies between suppliers.
  • What makes closeboard fencing stronger than other types?
Closeboard fencing’s strength comes from its overlapping vertical boards and robust support rails. This design is highly resistant to wind and impact, making it far more durable than waney lap or picket fencing.
  • What are the UK regulations for fence height?
Typically, you do not need planning permission for a fence up to 2 metres (6.6ft) high in a back garden or 1 metre (3.3ft) high if it borders a public road or footpath. Regulations can vary, so it’s always best to check with your local council.
  • How long do pressure-treated closeboard panels last?
When properly installed with gravel boards to prevent ground contact, our pressure-treated closeboard fences can last for 15-20 years or more with very little maintenance.
  • What is the difference between closeboard and hit and miss fencing?
Closeboard fencing creates a solid, gap-free barrier for maximum privacy. Hit and miss fencing has boards fixed to both sides of the support rails in an alternating pattern, which allows air to pass through. It is strong but less private than closeboard.
