UC4 Pressure Treated for Ground Contact

Unlike standard UC3 treated timber, our fence posts are pressure treated to UC4 (Use Class 4), making them suitable for permanent in-ground use. During the pressure treatment process, preservative is forced deep into the timber fibres, helping to protect against fungal decay, rot and insect attack.

Each post is also incised, meaning small precision cuts are made into the timber before treatment. This allows the preservative to penetrate deeper into the wood, particularly in more difficult-to-treat softwood species, providing enhanced protection and extending the service life of the post when installed in the ground.

Installation Advice

For maximum durability, we recommend installing at least 30-60cm below ground level and using a suitable post mix or concrete to provide a secure fixing. Ensure adequate drainage around the base of the post where possible to help maximise its service life.

Natural Timber Characteristics

As with all natural timber products, variations in colour, grain and appearance should be expected. Timber may also develop natural splits, shakes, twisting or warping as it dries and acclimatises to changing weather conditions. These are normal characteristics of solid timber and do not generally affect the structural integrity or performance of the fence post.

Larger section posts, such as 100 x 100mm (4″ x 4″), are naturally more prone to movement than smaller sections due to the greater volume of timber.
